Boris Johnson was elected Mayor of London on 2 May 2008. His aim to unite the city's various ethnic groups and cut violent crime across London.

To make this happen, the Mayor has set as his priorities to place 440 community support officers on the Tube and trains, to place weapons scanners at stations and to review the western zone of the congestion charge. He also wants to increase the number of affordable homes in London by a minimum of 50,000 in the next three years.
