Erith town centre fronts the River Thames in southeast London. At one time, it was the site of one of Henry VIII's naval dockyards; the town's most significant period of development was during the 1960's and 1970's. The heart of the town centre dates from the late 1960's and is sited around a pedestrianised town square flanked by shops and small businesses.
